Hi! I'm Miguel González Palacios. I'm a freelance journalist, copywriter, and content writer specializing in environment, politics, health and travel.

I hold a master's degree in Multilingual Communication from Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) and a double bachelor's degree in Political Science and Languages & Cultural Studies from Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia).

I'm fully fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Brazilian Portuguese. I have lived in 7 cities in 4 countries and visited over 20 more.

My strong analytical and research skills allow me to see the big picture behind everything I write. More than writing texts, I will be an active player of your strategy.

I have always had a thing with words. When I was a child, my brother taught me to read by pointing to the billboards on the road and showing me the yellow pages while I sat on his legs. My grandfather read the newspaper every morning, and my parents would leave the radio on the whole day at home. I remember spending my time after school writing short stories and how amazing it felt when I learned to use a dictionary. 

When I entered college, I decided to study for degrees that would help me develop my passion for reading, writing and understanding the world: Political Science, Languages and Cultural Studies. By mixing these fields of knowledge, I wanted to understand the complex relationship between language, power, and culture and how they shape the world. 

Then I moved to Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the European Union, to do a Master's in Multilingual Communication and International Relations. A genuine Babel tower, Brussels was the right place to experience diversity and cultivate my intercultural skills.

Back in Colombia, I worked leading excursions of small groups of travellers from all over the world
for almost three years. Without any doubt, this was the most adventurous time of my life. And all these tours also made me realize that the way we experience the places we live in and visit is all about the stories we hear and read about them.

The lockdown in 2020 was the right opportunity to return to my passion for writing and to start making a living from journalism and marketing writing. I am very fortunate to write about the topics that have always awakened my curiosity: nature, politics, climate, science, health, languages and travelling.

Between 2021 and 2022, I received two grants from the Deutsche Welle Akademie and the German Cooperation Agency to specialize in environmental journalism and reporting on social and environmental conflicts in the Amazon. As part of this training, I published two investigations about the conservation of endangered species in El Espectador, Colombia’s second-largest journal, and El País, the leading digital newspaper in the Spanish-speaking world.
